Advice for 1970 Sport Satellite

Here is a picture of the cars engine. Its a 1973 340 motor that I was told had 1200 miles on it. It has a new Holley 650 double pumper and a Mopar high rise manifold. It runs and seems very strong but it is seeping some oil. I need to investigate where. It also has the 904A transmission that has been rebuilt with steel drums and other high performance parts with a shift kit. I had yet to confirm how well this shifts and works as they mussed up the kick-down assembly. Lastly the power steering pump is leaking bad.

Is the power steering pump cap supposed to be vented? Mine has a hole that goes all the way through to the tip and the pump is wet from the top down...

As for kick down, I'm one for the bouchillon solution. It installs easily and a breeze to adjust.

Thanks Bill, I did have the kickdown adjusted well before the monkeys messed it up. If I cant get the right geometry I will try a cable solution. I am not looking to be stock original with this car (much to the chagrin of Jim K.). I just want to have fun with it.

Haha.... Ron my Coronet does not even have a gasket on the cap (dried out and cracked apart when I rebuilt the pump) and does not seem to leak. I am not sure if it has a vent hole but there is not enough splash or pressure to care the cap seal is not there.

Thanks Jim, my research indicated that it is vented and from what your saying it doesn’t really matter wrt pressure.

I just saw this and read through everything...
A couple things I see...
Holley...Summit and others sell a bracket for the side of the Holley that will bolt on and correct the kickdown and throttle cable issues...You can use your original cable but will need a 4 bbl bracket for the intake...
As for the distributor you can get a standard Chevy point distributor cap that uses the male plug wire ends (same as your stock distributor was) which makes it a little lower than the MSD cap using the HEI style ends. No need to spend money for a different distributor...
FWIW here's mine...just a stock 383-727...
Second pic is of the bracket for the carb and a homemade intake bracket I made for the tall intake.
There is no kickdown on this as it has A reverse manual valve body trans and doesn't need it...

The shift linkages have all been sorted out, I took all the linkages off and wire brushed them clean to the bare metal. Replaced all the bushings. The steering column is mounted and secured and the new Grant steering wheel has been mounted! Feels great and is very functional. So far that's all squared away.

Ok so I tried to clamp off the broken water pump heater nipple (can I say nipple?) and it just crumbled. The water pump is shot! I did not want to have to replace it because I have to mess with the AC but now I really have no choice. The material and age of the pump is very poor like VERY poor. Here is a picture of where I am at now!

Hello there!
I was wondering if you could post some pictures of the installed shift linkage.
I have a 70 Satellite as well.
It was converted from a column shift to a floor shift.
Unfortunately all the linkage was removed by the previous owner,
now I'm trying to figure out what is missing
and where to mount the brackets for the linkage.
I have looked at the Manuals but I'm hoping to find
some pictures of everything for a better reference.
