advise on buying a car

Yeah, I have'nt been called Four Eyes since grade school! Ha! Like MarPar said, "We all brothers at the Mystic Knights of the sea lodge" (Famous quote!)

Have someone look at it!

Steve, I've purchased cars both on eBay and Craigslist and the only time I got "burned" is the one I didn't have inspected.

My Allstate Insurance Agent is a friend of mine and I've had agents/adjusters look at the car from Allstate offices in the cities the car is located. He'd make the intitial call and I'd follow up with the agent.

Recently I had one of our fellow B body members , Steve SS, look at a car for me in Colorado (I'm in Florida)....he did a fantastic job I bought the car and it was better than I expected.

The last thing you want is something you're not happy with....the one I got "burned" with I sold for a loss but it was a great lesson..... Have someone "eyeball" it for you...who know someday you could help a fellow B-Body member.

I saw a car I'm interested in. It is located in Illinois and on E bay with a price and a buy it now price. I sent the owner a message that if they agreed id send them my cell # and we could discuss it over the phone. I never bought a car without seeing it and handing over the cash and i don't think i ever could. i was thinking of using one of those services were they inspect the car and report back to you, that i think may be worth it. Just how does this whole Ebay thing work. Im registered on pay pal and have used E bay but only for nickel and dime stuff. I just can't see myself buying a car without crawling underneath it. Can anyone offer any sound advise. Thanks

Thanks again i appreciate the advise. I will definitely use a service that inspects cars. I don't like to impose on anyone unless i really know them. I have looked at a car for a guy some years back and i did not care for the experience so while I'm not like the guy i was doing the favor for,i still came away vowing not to do it unless i know the person. Then again it was a foreign car, mopars I'm sure are a different thing

I looked at a car for a fellow B-Body member. It worked out well for the seller and the buyer. I didn't ask for anything but the buyer sent me $100 my time and gas.

SteveSS guys like you are good people. Someone i didn't really know that well asked me to look at a car. I don't recall if he offered to pay my expenses but id not taken anything from him as i was not traveling far. As it turned out the car was a complete beater. It would not start had two flats and was suppose to be a running car plus the guy was asking a insane amount. The guy would wanted to buy it had very unreal expectations and i told him this much. I think he wanted to get in and use the car as is and i told him there was no way this could happen. I found myself calling him and extending myself and i felt he didn't want to hear what i had to say. i wound up telling him what i saw what i thought and wished him well.

Het Steve,
Illinois is a ways out, but if you see something closer to me, I would be happy to look it over.Good luck!

I don't know Steve..... I think I'd trust one of my fellow FBBO members that actually know Mopars over some so called inspector. I've been around a few and torn them completely down to nothing telling me I know a bit more about these old cars than Joe Smoe. I'd take them up on their offer and send them some doe if it were me.

Its not a matter of trust. Id trust you and others 100% over a stranger.. See that we bang heads over politics,i can't remember your first name but i can say i honestly trust you. LOL…

All I'm saying is most of us would be willing to help each other out, throw them some money so your not imposing and call it good! Good Luck Steve

And if they refuse to take any money, send em a gift certificate to a really nice restaurant in their area !!!
