At car shows, you often see the puddles from guys who can't resist topping it off before the run. Leave 2".

Topping off is the reason you have puddles. If you over fill it, it will puke out the excess and seek it's own level. After that it should never overflow again.

Unless the thermostat just happens to stick for a moment. Or sometimes under hard acceleration. That's why the tracks require a can.

Agree, under normal conditions the coolant level will find itself and be good.

That's the one I have and it works very well. It was easy to install. I did not pay $49 for it, though. Shop around and you can find a better price.
