I'm in the midst of replacing my instrument cluster with a custom one and I was wondering whether anyone had switched out the factory headlight switch and/or wiper switch with an aftermarket version. I find the originals rather big, bulky and heavy for my liking. I'm also not sure why the originals were pushed so far back into the cluster. They both need about a 3" shaft before the switch starts.

No reason you can't replace them with any switch that will do the job. Connectors can always be changed. Maybe some later model switches would be more attractive to your needs?
