Hi
I have a 440 with a m1 intake and qft750. Car is a 69 coronet with flat hood. Any reccomendations on a air cleaner/base. Haven't taken exact measurement yet from top of carb to bottom of hood, but it's going to be tight.
Thanks

Would that M1 be a dual plane or a single plane?

@mopar 3 B While I haven’t seen any charts on air cleaner/filter turbulence, being the OP is looking for a drop base filter because I’m guessing cutting the hood is out of the question, (LOL!) what do you remember from it. Best set up perhaps?

Auto store has them.

I used a K&N drop base to get clearance for the stock hood on my Cuda. Had to cut down the stud to clear. Also for clearance my only manifold choice was an Edelbrock RPM Performer. I think the M1 may be taller.

You could just get a lower height air cleaner element. I think it is WIX that sells a 2” height element that is the right 11” diameter

Some drop-bases are lower than others. Shop diligently. I had all this under the flat hood of my wagon. There are many ways to gain room. Just a bit here-and-there.

Not much other than the filter air gap has to equal the engine air requirements and filter capabilities. Some thing like pinching a water hose and expecting a full flow of water. Just will not happen.

The best I read was a measurement that I can not now remember, but, I think it was 2 inch clearance above the air horn as a min.
