Bought this car with some issues: air cleaner hitting distributor. Wondering if past owner put in wrong one, looks to be sitting too high. He also added the grabber hood. Air cleaner seems to be correct for hood. MSD box mounted in a bad place wires touching hood hinge. On & on....think I need under hood pics of cars done right. The coil is mounted on the intake right next to the carb that had loose fuel line clamps. Lucky this thing didn’t burn up... could use some help on this guys

An MSD distributor will be too big for that.....

Dead end wires everywhere taped. Indy rebuilt my steering gear & I got rid of the headers and put on correct hp manifolds. Now need good exhaust makeover guy piece mealed that too. Well it is a 50 year old car......

I have fender tag & build sheet. 383 a/t a/c car originally. Guy put a 1968 440 in it. Original interior I have original hood with pins too. I just want it safe to drive & sound good.

is that an amp next to the battery? show some pics of your car and lots of people will help. It always like that buy a 50 year old car and send more money.

Although the factory put them there, you may consider mounting the coil upright. Today's are know to overheat laying on their sides; the oil doesn't completely fill them.
Sorry but I have no input on the six pak.

The msd dizzy is too big for the factory air cleaner. The location of the coil gets cooked in the stock location. We used to mount the coils on the apron, not far from the dizzy, would cure the coil bake. Usually the owner would go for an accel, the super coil was popular.

70 RR with factory Air Grabber and MSD distributor. The MSD Blaster coil is mounted on the passenger side fender just below the windshield fluid reservoir. The air cleaner base does rub slightly on one of the wires but nothing significant.

Lots of choices for distributors. Buy one that is closer to factory size. You could grind a little off the air cleaner base but it will kill the value of the base. Buy a repop base if that is what you want to do. Someone (me)will pay you more for the original than the repop will cost. Dont be foolish...

Thanks, agreed on “not” altering base. Any chance of getting side view pics of your engine compartment? Thanks, I just want this safe & correct/functioning. Not sure why this guy has the big coffee can tank on the passenger side, maybe he thought it was part of the grabber hood. One more...... Where is a good location for this MSD box? I appreciate the info,

I agree with the above...distributor not a match for air cleaner assembly; Accel Super Coil type is a good selection given the way its mounting bracket installs. Relocate the coil is a good thing.

I have the firecore distributor and it clears my air cleaner just fine, also my coil is laying on it's side on the manifold since I've owned it (40 years) and I never had a coil problem, heat crossovers are wide open also.
