Hello all. I have a 78 Magnum with a fresh 400. Has AC and replacing the V2. Ordered a Sanden compressor a looking at a new condenser as well. Photo of original lines when I had 318 in it. I don’t see an Expansion valve on the lines. Is it inside the car? Is it not needed? Just getting parts needed. Thanks in advance.

There is either an expansion valve or fixed orifice. It should be on the high side line from the condenser to the evaporator coil. Probably close to the evaporator or on the evaporator.

When you unbolted the lines at the firewall you should have seen this... The expansion valve...

It is probably still bolted to the evaporator....

Thank you so much. There was so much junk on the sides. I just never realized it. I think I'd like to pick up a new one just because it's so old but in anyone's opinion since it was 'calibrated' for r12 and now I'm putting 134 a should I be looking for something different? Any other advice is welcomed.

I would get a new factory styled one for your car. I used the factory one for my 68 Charger with R134 and it works perfectly. If you can get the 134 O rings you will be golden.

Sounds great. Got one in the cart now. Thanks for your help.
I was also wondering if I need the muffler with the new Sanden and or can it be cleaned? Didn't know if it had passages or such. Have a place to help with adding new hose and fittings on lines.

Not sure but I don't think your muffler and plumbing will work on the Sanden Compressor. I don't even know if one is needed. Someone will chime in with what is needed though. I used the factory compressor that came with my 6.1 engine. There is no muffler in that system.

When I have circles, what I was told as a muffler. And it looks like I believe that's the high pressure fitting. The metal hose is in nice shape and I was hoping that I could have someone put an end on it or flare ends or an adapter to fit the threads on the sanden compressor, and of course similar to the other side. We'll get a new condenser as well and will have them put the new barrier hoses on as well. I think that was called on it too. Thank you so much.
