im putting my 70rr back together and im assembling the air grab system. my cannister leaks air when i blow in it ,around the rubber seal that is under the 2 inlets.the can still looks great no dents still has factory paint.i was wondering if it is practical to try and seal this cannister with silicone sealer.thanx

That might be a proper operating condition. It is a vacuum canister, not a pressure can. The proper way to test it would be to pull a vacuum, and see if it holds it.

thanx 69bee.also would the vacuum from a carb port run the air gabber as good as straight from the intake?

As someone said, it may work, but I would rather see it run off of the intake manifold T fitting.

does anyone know which nipple on the can connects to the intake vacuum ? because the center nipple seems to seal when vacuum is applied and the other does not completly. im wondering how that could be. is there some kind of seperate chamber inside the can?thanx randy

The off center goes to the manifold, center goes to switch. It's designed to hold vacuum even with the engine off.
Any constant vacuum source will work fine, but manifold is the way it was done originally.

Don't know if you have this already

if the offcenter nipple dont completly seal when connected to the intake dont that mean a vacuum leak?thanx randy

I guess the best way to test is with a vacuum gauge on the center and use the engine for vacuum on the off center, then shut off the engine and it should hold steady otherwise there's a leak.
If there is a leak around a nipple a small amount of rev should take care of it.
If it still doesn't hold the internal one way valve is shot, time for a new can.
