Air grabbed switch

ive pulled apart my air grabbed switch from my 70 gtx and I've noticed that it has residue from some kind of grease. The switch is bleeding vacuum though from what I can tell the switch is in good shape. Any one know what could be wrong. I'm thinking it needs the grease to complete the seal. Anyone know what that grease is or what's up? Thanks

To answer the question, if you are leaking vacuum, there are a few possibilities;
1. Bad rubber hoses to or from the vacuum pod or reservoir tank,
2. Bad switch (as you have alluded to)
3. Electric solenoid under dash - near ash tray, has a leak. This is controlled by the ignition, and prevents vacuum leakage when the engine is shut off.
You can replace parts like the solenoid, or have them repaired.

Damn I was hoping I could fix it. I hear air sucking at the switch when I put my ear to it. And I don't remember hearing that when the switch functioned. I shouldn't hear that at the switch right? Here's a pic of my car

I'm going to try white lithium grease on mine. Will see.

It works. A small dad of white lithium grease did the trick. Now, the switch is holding vaccumm, will see for how long.

Ya my little H seal looks that good Ima try that grease though. Where did you dab the grease in the switch?

It gets to 118 here in Phoenix any ideas on a grease with a high heat tolerance?

A little bit on the H seal, both sides. Don't think heat will be a problem.

Everyone calls this part a switch.....it's really just a vacuum VALVE, that ports the vacuum signal to open the actuator or prevents it from opening. The 12v solenoid dumps the vacuum to the actuator allowing the spring to close the air grabber door.
