Hello all, hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year. On my 70 GTX 440 4bbl I'm thinking about putting an air grabber hood and everything on it eventually and I was wondering if a 14"x3" k&n with the filter lid would work in the air cleaner base or would that filter size not fit? I guess I'm not sure of the size of the original round air grabber air filter. Also, will there be any clearance issues running an edelbrock carb with the air grabber? Thanks for the help everyone.

Probably not unless you customize the base or buy a glass base and customize it.

There are a few threads on here about parts needed for a full Air Grabber setup - it might not be a bad idea to pull up a few of those. There are quite a few parts needed, and they are not cheap!

Bottom line is space is very tight with an air grabber car. One strike against you is you have a 440, a raised block engine. This means even less room under the hood than a B block, and unless you have a very compact dual plane manifold you will likely have clearance issues. Here is a thread I have started as I am working to replace my original 383 engine with a higher performance engine. The link pasted below discusses some differences and some clearance issues. Hopefully this helps.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replys and sharing that link it will definitely be helpful. Yeah a full air grabber set up is pricey, buying the hood is just the tip of the iceberg haha another option I've thought about is a 1969 style 440 6bbl fiberglass hood but I havent been able to find one that will work on a 1970, I know they exist though.
