Air show crash

Lots of planes in the air for the show !
I mean a lot going on at once.

In one of the collision videos, You could see a number of planes in the sky and with that many in the sky at once at low altitude and in close proximity, an accident was inevitable.

Oh no, another B-17 gone, from the air show circuit, sad to say.
I remember the Collings Foundation B-17 crash, in Hartford, CT. a few years ago.
How many are still flying?

Five, now. There are 43 other complete B-17s in various collections around the world, including the Boeing Museum of Flight, that are either not flown or not flyable, for various reasons.

The four aircraft in this show also flew the day before at the Veteran's Day celebration in Midwest City, Oklahoma. It was so cool watching these planes fly overhead, especially the B-17. Two of my cousins served as crewmen on -17s during WWII.

Media dweebs reported six people were killed.

From the angles shown, it appears the P-63 approached the B-17 at a blind angle, as the B-17 was below the P-63's sight line, as it was a low-wing aircraft. I can't imagine either crew knew what happened. It's a very sad day, indeed.

CAF has Sentimental Journey
EAA has Aluminum Overcast, but is down for maintence
Palm Springs Air Museum has Movie Memphis Belle down for maintence
Yankee Air Force has Yankee Lady
Erickson Aircraft has Ye Old Pub
Mid American Flight has Thunderbird down for maintence
B-17 Preservation has Sally B
5 more are on long term restoration to flying

I have the plastic scale model of Aluminum Overcast. It is the B-17 model that is available through a couple of sources.

I have these on my computer at work. The first is Aluminum Overcast, the second is Sentimental Journey. The bottom with the P-51s is Liberty Belle. I'm not 100% sure on the third aircraft.

This really makes me very sad today.

third B-17 is Fuddy Duddy. Currently at the Loyn Museum at John Wayne Airport. Hasn't flown for a while. Was used in The War Lover.

I couldn't read the nose art, and thought that, but didn't want to say 100%. Thanks!

Analysis of the Dallas Air Show Crash from Juan Browne. He is very knowledgeable on these things I have found.

He has the blancolirio channel on YouTube, if anyone is interested. He is a commercial pilot with several thousand hours, a USAF vet, and he analyzes aircraft accidents as a hobby, of sorts. Very knowledgeable.

I watched his video on Nine O Nines crash. Great explaintion, and told just how many were at fault.

Sad, my deepest heartfelt condolences goes out to the families
& plane owners, anyone involved & connected with it
maybe (?)
they will think about being more careful, and more cautious next show
maybe (?)
less planes flying in close proximity, all at the same time :realcrazy:
it'd still be a great show with 1/2 of the planes, that were in the air
trying to do too much, just to put on a "show", with real lives at stake

anyway thanks for the updates guys

The P-63 fucked up, no if's, and's, or but's about it!! He failed to maintain altitude separation with the bombers flying on their assigned altitudes!
