I have a question about which intake would be best to fit under an Airgrabber on my 1972 Roadrunner. Originally I was going to use the stock hood that came with my car. It's originally a 400, 4 barrel, 4 Speed car but not matching numbers as I don't have the original 400 so I am going with a 440. I was going to stick with the original hood but the car also came with an Airgrabber Bubble which I going to sell until I made a friend who has an excellent 1972 SSP hood with factory hood pins which he will sell me very reasonably. I just can't pass it up! I have narrowed it down to two possible candidates: The CH4B or the Weiand Action Plus. I know the CH4B is a better but will it make much of a difference if I go with the Action Plus? The Action Plus will fit as from what I've read it's shorter than the stock piece. The CH4B is .40 and will cause the hood to bind on the air cleaner. Will either of these intakes choke a set of aluminum heads?

I plan to build a modest 440 around 500 to 550 hp mostly for street mayby a couple of runs at the strip. That will be plenty for me especially after riding around for the past four years in little Honda Civic!.

Appreciate any info you can offer!

Don't know about your year, but I'm going through this very issue on a 69. I can tell you that the edelbrock performer 2191 is 1 11/16 taller than stock on the 440. I had to buy a repop base and ill need to modify it to fit .

Must be the Performer RPM great intake but way to high a 1972 Roadrunner. Not much room under there. If you can make it fit that would be great.

Performer and performer rpm are two different intakes. The rpm is indeed a tall s.o.b. as it is a high rise manifold. The performer is a low rise dual plane.

Have a read through this thread I started last year....

Hope that helps. I can tell you that for a 1970 AirGrabber system, an Edelbrock 2191 does not just bolt on and work without some serious mods. :steering:

Some pics of your setup might help others to help you.

Very helpful info , kiwigtx. I am wondering though, the 1 3/8 that you give for you base ... was that you final height flange to crossbar. Or is that the total of what was removed from the height?
