alum.. heads

Hey guys, I want to put alum. heads on mh 67 318 Dodge Coronet. I already have an Eddy intake. The engine is bone stock, soooooooo Do I have dick with push rods or different valve and stuff or can I bolt it right on. I already have new rockers arms on.

I would advise that you go to Summit Racing website, look up Edelbrock part number 60779 and read the installation instructions. Make up your own mind if'n you want to tackle the project.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother. Not because I don't like 318's- 'cause I do love the 318!! HOWEVER the slugs (pistons) in most 318's seems to sit low in the bores which makes compression low to begin with. So you get better flow with better heads but still suffer from low compression. This is much the case with people that just throw 360 heads on a 318: The C/R takes a dump. Obviously this is bad for HP. So, IMO, which is worth all you've paid (Zero), I think you'd be better off putting in a hotter cam (the bumpsticks on stock 318's aren't all that great to begin with) and keeping the stock heads with the smaller ports- you'll get a higher velocity charge, and just setting up a decent dual exhaust/ intake setup. But if you are gonna do a cam change you may want to pull the heads just to have hardened valve seats put in (sunk valve seats, anyone?) but honestly at that point, go and get yourself a set of 308 heads. They were probably the "best", stock, non-magnum heads out there for the lil'o'318. Again, just my 2 cents.

How many $$. I have been thinkin about doin just that . I also have a 440/727 but the motor needs rebuild.
