Aluminum Heads

My aluminum LA heads are 25 or so years old and still in use.

Zero issues. Never use tap water in the cooling system. To many things within the water that aluminum may not like. 50/50 mix or heavy water with full strength anti freeze only.

I have trick flow aluminum heads, 440 source alum water pump with a copper 26" oem radiator with 7 blade and shroud. 180f stant. The car has never run cooler than it does now, i could barbecue on the old iron heads and iron water pump.

Mr.jim, i have to believe that the aluminum heads are the way to go. I just order mine for my engine and after talking to everyone here on the forum i am having the heads tore down test spring pressure etc just to make sure. But again many years of r&d have now been put into them so that is a plus. I am also doing the port matching on the intake and exhaust that is most important thing to me.

Use the right head gaskets, and keep the coolant fresh, and they will go as long as any modern engine with aluminum heads and an iron block.
