I just bought this locally, it seems to work. Anyone here ever used one? I got a lot of adapters and stuff with it. I have to figure out the alternator or starter number deal, not sure where that comes from.

Thanks, already have these but they do not really provide any detail other than how to connect it and the concept of running it. When you start it, it will ask for an alternator (or starter depending on what test you are running) number. It seems that alternators and starters are given a number (part number?) which Amfor is using. I watched a video and the guy put 7122 which is a GM alternator, I know this because I googled the number and it comes up, so there has to be some list. I emailed Amfor and asked the question so we will see.

I too have the same tester, purchase 2nd hand. The tester will not start up to the Alternator/Starter screen. Keeps asking for system disk at boot up. Amfor is no help and the manual pdfs are only for the testing procedures. Nothing for the systems requirements or systems troubleshooting. Can someone help please?
Do these tester need a Windows server or laptop hooked up to function?

No they do not, it should operate on its own. It sounds like someone pulled the card which contains the database of starters and alternators.

I will say that AmFor was exceptionally helpful for me since I posted that but you have to call them, I could not get really any help online or via email.

The CF Card (1gb) is still in the machine. I think that card is where the database, etc. is on. When starting keeps saying to insert system disk and press enter.
