any ideas on what i should do next.
thxs for the help

There is a recent good write-up in a bodies in here, find that, long explanation of how to test.

I had a very similar problem. The car was slowly discharging with a new alternator, MSD ignition system, electric fan, and a new voltage regulator with a re-located battery in the trunk. After three alternators and four voltage regulators; I purchased eight feet of 10G wire. I ran an additional power wire off of the alternator to the hot post of the starter relay in my case (for ease of access) and the charging system went from 11.75-12.00V at idle with all accessories, to 13.5-14.00V. Simple solution, if you are running a 55+amp Chrysler alternator. It seems to me that the factory engine harness just doesn't transfer the power sufficiently once circulated through the vehicle. Just something that helped me out, and nearly caused us a very big towing charge home at this years Turkey Rod Run in Daytona.

Sounds like a bulkhead/ ampmeter problem. google madelectric. I did it, bypassing the amp, battery in trunk, good. The batt in trunk involves welding cable, with soldered ends. And to pass NHRA, the 4 post switch.

Let me go up. Not all new alts are good. Ck from bid cable to batt neg, shiuld be 13+ volts.

We have a re-located battery. We also had very similar problems. I am running a 2,100CFM electric fan-MSD 6AL ignition/60K Volt coil/Mopar Electronic Distributor-Lights, etc. and the voltage is still around 14V at idle (1,200RPM.) Run an additional power wire from the alternator to the starter relay (hot) terminal if your battery is in the trunk (or starter), or to your positive post on the battery if still located in the engine bay and check your voltage while the engine is running. I would do this, before going out an getting by hands dirty.

Voltmeter from alt to battery neg, then to any ground' what is the reading?

sorry it took so long to get back here but it ended up being a ground wire that i had missed
