I just picked her up wedenesday. 66 coronet 500...has the original 361, but has been bored .30 and has a mopar purple shaft cam, edlebrock performer and edelbrock carb. Needs a little metal work and will be off to paint. I will update as I get to work on her.

Are you going with that green??? If you are, the high-impact colors just don't look right on a '66 - '67 Mopar of any kind. Just my opinion.

BUT, as a fellow '66 Coronet 500 owner, nice score! Just curious, what is the scheduled build date on the fender tag?

I am thinking about going with that green. Would save me from pulling the engine for paint...and I think it will look great.
Although the original combo of black with a white painted top is awful tempting.

I had hemi orange on a 67 GTX clone and it got alot of complinebts...and people love the blue/purple on my 67 R/T

Wow, that's a beauty! Love the car but have to agree that they don't look great in that green, don't get me wrong I love that color on Challengers and Cudas. It's your car and you should do exactly what you want with it just don't do it just because the engine compartment is already green, go to some shows and find what "you" like because paint ain't cheap.

Black with a white painted top? That is a cool combo...kinda cop-ish, but still pretty cool. I can see the white top, as it's a non-air car.

I am on the fence about the color...but leaning towards the green. I think it will look great and my three year old son's favorite color is green and he is super excited about the car.
On another note....does anyone sell the sheet metal to fix this...the supports the back bumper bolt to....

Not much happening on the car lately as I am in the process of buying a new house....but I did pick up a neat hood for it today.View attachment 259595

Looks like a great project car. They look nasty bad with black on black in that year. One of the coolest cars of my teen years was a guy had one the was all black with black tinted windows. He rolled in letting it loose coming out of a drive in.

but like other say - ya got to build em like your like em. If that's green more power to you. Good luck with the build.

Yea...I am getting excited about it. There is a nice all black 67 local to me (actually who i got the hood from)....another reason for me not to go black ;-)

Good looking project bud!!! I like your idea of black, you just cant loose! But you need to build it your way, I DO hope you enjoy the build, it can be as much fun as driving it!!! :)

I think I am gonna go with the green with some black accents........cause I can ;-)

Got some new rims and tires on her...not everyones cup of tea...but I like em.0618150944.jpg0618150945a.jpg0618150950.jpg

If they do, I sure couldn't find any of those parts for my 66 Coronet. I ended up buying rear cross-rail brackets for a 68-70 I believe and cutting them down to match the remains of what was left of my rusted brackets then fabbing up the rest with sheet metal. That area appears to rust real bad on most 66-67 Coronets so it would be real hard to find any donor parts as well.

right on. I will end up making it...just figured i would ask around first.
