Any CB geeks still around???????

any radio shop should be able to help you or a lot of truck stops still carry them

Truck stops are a great place for CB Geeky stuff

Still run a CB in my Jeep CJ but of course I mounted everything YEARS ago. Except the antenna. I got a new one several years back at G.I. Joe's.

It's been a few years for me as well but I always liked the 8 foot Francis whip for reception/broadcast

I was thinking a pair of old steel whips also.Wanted to speak to someone that knows their stuff about antennas.Have a good modded Cobra, just need to mount it and decide on reception.I don't want mirror mounts for sure!!

Duel whips are a pain to tune and if they bump metal they ground out easy. Go with one good antenna and you will be much happier. Back in the 90's I spent money on cb equipment like Mopar people spend on their cars...... Wait! Damn just traded one cash flow problem for another.... :)

Francis fiberglass whip. Very little tuning needed to get the best match and if you shoot skip it pulls in the dx link nothing else

I liked the Francis Pre-tuned for ease of tuning, usually just the right amount of Coax 18 ft i think and do not coil it up in the vehicle it has to be stretched out in the vehicle.
A lot of users cut the excess cable off to shorten and clean up the interior but it lacked transmitting power for mis-tuning!
Wilson is my second best if you had a SWR Meter to match and tune it in!

There's still the problem of where to actually mount the antenne.

the best location is the center of the roof so grab a mag base stainless whip with a loaded base

Why not mount them on the headache rack behind the cab! One thing to remember is mount them as far apart as possible,

I was thinking of a pair of steel whips mounted on the light rack, but if a single could survive on my roof and give me better performance that would be easier.:blob1:
