not sure best place for this post. Just found out I need a total left knee replacement and had been looking at purchasing a 4 speed project prior to do.

My question is: I'm checking for feedback if any members have had this procedure Done since this is clutch leg, healed and continue to drive the 4 speed ride without problems? Thanks all for feedback.

No problem. Make sure you have a great surgeon, and DO YOUR PT!!!!!! I had bi-lateral replacements. The only thing I can't do, is kneel to work on things. Not great.....but much better than not walking.

If it's a problem you can always go hydraulic and play with master cylinder sizing and attachment point to gain a soft pedal. I've also heard that twin disc setups require less effort as well so you've got options. If you want a 4 speed make it work for you. Good luck on the surgery.

Right Knee replacement and still ride Dirt Bikes..

Thanks for the input. I was suppose to have done at the Veterans Hospital but managed to use choice program to another doctor outside of VA.

That's great input. That's what I'm hoping for. I'm interested in 69-72 440, 4speed setup. I've had couple of other 4 speed cars before 69 & 70 AMX 390 Gopack cars with traditional clutch-master cylinder configuration. Would prefer the 4 speed to automatic.. Thank you.

Have had both knee's done. no problems. DO YOUR PRE_OP exercises.

And be sure to follow through on all the prescribed therapy. My dad didn't after his replacement and he wasn't right again. However I know of others who had them done & they did well.....because they followed through with their prescribed therapy.

Oh, and last thing; be sure that you request knee joints with zerk fittings. They cost about 50 bucks extra each so don't cheap out!!!!

Yes post exercise op to get knee to bend as far as possible.
In my P/T (pain and torture) they had me climb stairs with 3 risers and down. If you live in a ranch style with few stairs all the better. I live in a raised ranch so had to do 13 stairs. If you had a fire you have to be able to get out on your own. Right knee went smooth6 weeks back to work. Left knee went slower, dislocated it high school had to be careful twisting on it. 10/12 weeks and pinched and ouch off and on for 6 months. After that fine. right knee 2006 left 2011.

Knee replacements are a piece of cake. After getting a correctly done one....you'll wish it had been done decades earlier. If ya act like a pussy...it won't work well for ya. Just "man-up", do your PT, and get off any pain-killers, ASAP. Some guys need testosterone therapy, more. I had both mine done in 2014, 6 months apart. They wouldn't let me do both at once, due to some circulation issue in my right leg.

Good luck with the surgery,
hope all goes well & you get what ever trans you like...

Pre and Post op exercises are a must.. I had to use a torture devise due crap knee surgeries prior to replacement.
I had to use a home device like this for a month, PAIN!!!

If you don't go for big horsepower, you would really like the Centerforce Dual Friction. Holds real well and very light pedal --probably lighter than stock. My left knee will need to be replaced sometime, and I can clutch just fine. I get my right knee replaced in January. Thanks all for the thereapy advice.....................MO

I've had knee reconstruction from having a building fall on it. Porneal nerve severed , drop foot and I wear an afo. My acl, pcl, mcl all detached. My me meniscus was flipped. I had surgery once on it and got hit head on at 55 a month later had it redone again a year later after I healed from the car wreck.

That being said, I drive factory restored 4 speed big block cars all the time.
