Any model railroaders in the house?

Day-yum;you cats have some mighty fine layouts. I was into it for a while;loved the dynamic aspect of building kits and then seeing them move. Sold all my stuff right after the $econd divor$e;wish I had kept a couple of kits I had built. Was planning a replica of the "Salt Line" on GTW rails, circa 1956(the year I appeared),running from Durand to Saginaw,in HO scale. Runs through Flushing, where I now reside,so following the line north to Saginaw,as I was working up there and getting detail pics of the terrain was easy. Built a number of the Proto 2000 kits(Hated seeing the "Made in China" on the box,but those are damn nice kits),Red Caboose(good kits, but their "accuracy" sometimes was suspect),and really enjoyed the challenge of a couple of Sunshine and Funaro&Camerlengo kits-especially since F&C did old Canadian National and Grand Trunk Western rolling stock.

(F-bomb alert) If you f#$%&@s keep f@#$%&g posting pics of your f@#$%&g layouts, you're gonna get this old f@#$%r involved again. F@#$%&s.

Die Hard Model Railroader. Did I mention I have the 3 most expensive hobby's...?

Golf
Model Railroading
And MOPAR Collector Cars

Fortunately no spouse to put a damper on those. I must be blessed. I am an HO guy but still play and invest in O Gauge Lionel Trains. Also the Atlas and Williams lines of trains. The O Gauge goes up right after Thanksgiving and then put away on the 1st of March. It runs around the floor of my house through the living room and hall. Just remember when you come to visit during that time to "Pick up your Feet", and "YIELD FOR THE TRAIN". Other than that enjoy...

Ya got one here. I'm in N Scale but the first set my parents got me was in S scale. I don't know what happened to that set but I do still have the engine and some cars of the first HO stuff I got probably in the late '50s or early '60s. I was doing a lot of shows with the N Trak modules and one of the local hobby shops has O, HO and N scale layouts that we operate two Sundays a month I should have run out there today but I finally was able to start the rebuild of the 273 for my '64 Barracuda. Guess what's more important! So I also haven't done too much with trains the last few years as I've been doing a lot more with my Mopars.

I have some Marklin stuff in the basement I've had since I was a kid. Does that count as a model railroader?

Here is a scene I made on my old On30 layout and three large scale "critter" switchers I built from scratch.

Anyone interested in American Flyer have a friend selling his collection.
PM me here for additional info.
Thanks

A few blocks from our house we have these!

Charlie my 12 yr. old son came back from the San Mateo train show last night with a ton of ho stuff. He has taken over the livingroom. The pix are from our park Vasona/Oak meadow in Los Gatos Ca. The steam engine I have been riding since 1972. The diesels are cool too. I always wanted one of these in my yard!2spot-7.jpg3502-station3.jpg3502-station-2.jpg

Great shots. Love 15 inch gauge stuff. I have a Gn15 portable layout called The Georgia Beer Company I've been working on for a few years off and on. After seein your pics, I might just pull it back out.

There's a fairly large privately owned 7 1/2 inch gauge live steam and "lawn mower engine" park not too far from me.

I almost bought one of the boxcab electrics that runs on a 12v car battery.

Nice critters, Rusty.

Thanks. I remember when I was a kid, we used to vacation in Fernandina Beach, Florida for a week during the summer. One time, we went to Jacksonville to the zoo there. They had a really cool 15" gauge train that ran the perimeter. Still have pics. Those are some really good memories. I don't even remember any animals. lol

Gomez' model railroad was the best....

Can a train nut please Pm me I have a semi rare set Im looking to sell and have some questions

My grandfather was seriously into it. He converted his basement into a huge platform. You would open the door, and there would be the platform at waist height. To get in the basement you had to get on your knees, crawl under the platform, and pop up in the center where he had a 4ft by 4ft hole cut out that was surrounded by transformers. If it was a train from the 1800s to the 1970s, he had it. For you old timers, there was a show called The Magician with Bill Bixby on in 73/74, and Bixby was trained by a famous magician named Mark Wilson. Mark Wilson bought all but three trains that my grandfather had when he passed away. My uncle got one, my dad got one, and I got one, an American Flyer Frontiersman set that I still put up every Christmas.

My Grandad gave me his 1929 Lionel Train set & tracks, had it mounted to a piece of plywood on block & pulleys hanging from the garage ceiling, several places, so it could be pulled up out of the way, it had a complete town set-up, little figurines, railroad crossing, figure 8 HO slot car track in the center, staging old Hot Wheels cars, trees, grass, hills, buildings, service station, train station etc., I played with them allot in my youth like 8-15, latter I handed them down to my nephew Keith when I was in my 20's, he was like my son & he was really interested in it... But he traded it away for a baseball mitt & a bat IIRC, when I was on a road trip somewhere, I was freaken' furious when I found out... it was a family heirloom... I couldn't get them back either, believe me I tried... I haven't had any time for the train stuff, in nearly 30+ years now thou...

The miniature wonderland is a great place!! My wife and I went with our son a few years ago, we spent 2 days there roaming around. We are lucky to have friends in Germany so we just needed to get there. I would highly suggest "if" you like to travel go to Germany. The people are nice and its not that hard to get around.Joey D
I've been collecting Lionel Trains since the 1970's it fun and my son and wife enjoy it also.

Oh yea!!! In the winter, my 300 becomes a train yard. Yes, the Mopar has a Hemi!2668.jpg2666.jpg2603.jpg2685.jpg
