My youngest (25) is looking to apply for a higher position within Dupont and it would mean a relocation to NJ.

Just wondered if I could find out any information on the area...
Parlin NJ. (Sayerville NJ 08859)

Possible relocation may take place in about 3 weeks or so...

Thx to all...

I live about 30 min from there and worked in Sayreville for a few yrs. PM me your cell and a good time to talk tomorrow

I grew up about 20 minutes from that area. While Parlin, Sayreville, South Amboy, Lawrence Harbor, etc. used to be nice, blue class, suburban towns, they are not so much anymore. Unfortunately, the urban filth and squalor of nearby Perth Amboy has permeated those once nice areas. Especially after they "beautified" the water front in Perth Amboy. I would recommend heading a little further south, say Atlantic Highlands area if he can afford it. Most of the shore towns are still nice, while a bit pricey. The further south you go down the shoreline, the more money he will spend. I had a shore house in Point Pleasant for years and the Jersey shore is a nice area to live. I would avoid anything immediately north of Sayreville and also the Freehold area. South of Freehold down Rt. 9 is nice, but the commute up rt. 9 everyday will suck. Likewise, Rt. 18 south of East Brunswick starts to get nice as well. The Woodbridge area, just north of Parlin on Rt. 1/9 still has it's nice areas, but they are pricey and kind of close to the Rt. 1/9 filth of Union Cty. where I grew up. I am sure @djais1801 will expand on what I am telling you. Belmar, where his screen-name comes from is real nice, but the summer months are mayhem with all of the tourists. Good Luck!

And when it comes to taxes....BOHICA!
Bend over here it comes again!
Real estate taxes are astronomical.
Then there is the firearm regs. Won't go into that as it is political.
My employer used to have an office in Red Bank.
It was nice there but that was in the early 90s. One of the guys there had a typical 1700 square ft split foyer. Today taxes on a house like that here near STL would be close to 2k. In 1991 in Jersey their taxes were 6k! I can't imagine what it would be today. Met a couple who had a beautiful home and were selling out and moving to Long Island where the taxes were lower. Don't know what they are now.
Visited all those towns mentioned. They were nice then. Haven't been there in 25 years.

You can give them my number if I can be of any help, although I am south of Parlin.
