I'm in the Greenville/Spartanburg area and looking for a shop to do the body work and paint for my upcoming 70 Charger project. Anyone who's had experience with shops in the area (good & bad) would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Didn't get any responses, so nudging my thread. I've narrowed it down to a couple of shops. Has anyone used either and/or has comments about either?

Carthage Classic Cars, Carthage, NC (about 3 hrs away)
- Only does the frame & sheet metal work (not the final bodywork/paint)
- Lots of YouTube videos of his work on these cars, giving me confidence he can handle all the replacements required (frame rails, floor pans, etc)
- 1 year wait time/backlog
- 3-4 months to complete metal work and be ready for final bodywork & paint

Elite Customs, Spartanburg, SC (about 20 mins away)
- All in one shop: frame, sheet metal, final bodywork and paint
- Lots of pictures online but not many showing the level of teardown required to replace frame/floorpans, etc
- 3-4 month wait time/backlog
- 3-4 months to completion (thinking it could be closer to 6)
- I visited their shop and their final product / paint looks great
- If I don't use them for everything, I may still try to have them do the final bodywork & paint

If anyone has any experience, either good or bad, please shoot me a message.

I'm still 3-4 months away from being ready (disassembly), but I'd like to get my spot in line. There is plenty to do if I wait a year to get in (interior, rechrome, reupholstery, engine rebuild, etc).

Thanks
Ross

Be selective and get some sort of contract and put a time frame to it. Make frequent visits and call the local pd as they will know if there have been issues , check the BBB , ask around the area!

Don't pay in advance.

Hi Ross! I have some feedback regarding work done on my 70 RR that was performed by Elite Customs. Please *********. Long story, so I prefer not to write it, but hopefully
can save you some grief/ $$ and heartache.

I don't know if Lee is doing restoration work yet, but you could look up Hodge Restorations, in Boiling Springs, SC.

Thanks, I've tried FB messages, called the phone number and left voicemail - no response from Hodges Restorations. I may have to swing by there sometime - 20-25 minutes away.

There’s probably at least a 2 year wait for the work on your car to even start but you could try Creations by Gemza in Denver NC.
