Anybody seen what's happening in Yellowstone today?

Allegedly"
not that IT is still an active (we know it is)
& is largest ever caldera volcano,
& it's over due for erruption
the whole place is volcanic
it's our biggest threat to life in the USA other than a foreign adversary
if the big deal went off, it'd end much of the north & east in the USA
huge ash clouds & nuclear winter in the northern hemisphere
even parts of Canada
of the whole world east of it, that's the way the winds blow
blanket the north with a foot or 2 of ash

They've been talking about stuff happening there for years but this seems a little more "In your face" that ground swelling & lake boundaries moving

And there are still idiots standing by the edge waiting to film the next activity.....Darwin Awards, here we come.
If you read the comments somebody pointed out that the parking lot was on the other side. So, they had to go back past the geyser to get home.

So walk through the fire to get to the carpark....makes sense.

This is why you don't mess about on volcanic areas.....whether you think they're dormant or not.

Can anybody say Mt St Helens?

Was there 5 years ago, fantastic place to go, even though you know your toast if the big one hit.

The way Yellowstone is you gotta stay on the walkway.. Or you step in a soft/hot spot... But if you gotta get back to the car past that geyser, then get moving, don't stop moving till your in a hopefully "safe" area....

Exactly. No point standing at the edge of the crater to film what might happen next.

You'll get enough footage of that from a safer distance.

What would you do?
Get as far away as possible in a group - stay together. Cell phones everywhere.

Help will turn up soon enough.

Why risk the walkway that is right next to the crater - and the same walkway that just got blown to pieces.

Are you going to wait for God to save you? Nope....but any number of news crews will be there soon enough, and rescue helicopters will follow.

Rather be called a coward than a dead "moron"

Yeah, they're talking about it on World News Tonight on channel 7 here in Chicano!
I'm getting ready to head south!
