I thought i saw a picture in the past, of 68 Charger with just the vinyl roof trim on, no vinyl roof. Was looking for pictures of same, as im on the fence about installing a new vinyl roof….
Anyone delete the vinyl roof, but keep the chrome trim?

But I vote NO on the trim without vinyl top.

That is so wrong, stick with the vinyl, these cars look awesome with vinyl roofs or remove the trim, but trim with no vinyl looks horrible.
It would make a good break for a two-tone paint scheme.

It is fun to look at the various General Lees that were used for the show. This one had the '68 dash pad.

Do you know what the roof-to-quarter seam looks like? I ask because I have a 1969 Coronet in the shop that I'm installing full quarters on. I'm not sure if this applies to all vinyl top cars or just Lynch Road cars, but for vinyl top models, they used seam sealer on the quarter-to-roof joint and only sprayed color as far as needed. I was about to torch out the lead as usual but found seam sealer instead—it came off easily enough.

Go with the vinyl roof. The trim with just paint looks like $hit to me. Had a buddy send me this pic the other day of another friend of his Bee.
Beautiful car. The two tone with the trim is ok I suppose. Vinyl would have been better. Buckskin interior would really make it pop.

Either keep the vinyl, or go without, but ditch the trim. Some colors need the vinyl to break it up. What color are you going to paint it?
No vinyl top with the trim looks like an unfinished job, plus waxing around it is a bitch.

If I do a car with a factory vinyl top, I go back with one, I like em. If you decide not go back with vinyl, put the trim back on. A future owner may want to take it back OEM and will have all the pieces. Finding good condition OEM trim gets harder and harder as the years go by. imho

I used to not be a fan of vinyl tops. However, it seems that I have owned more Chargers with vinyl tops than without. Same goes for other classic cars as well. I have learned to like them either way, but I agree with most others. No top, no trim.
