Anyone drive Calvert Caltracs also on a street car ?

If I shift from 2 to 3 gear ( full manual valve body ) I get a big loud bang coming from the passenger side , there where I have one layer more leaf springs ( XHD) .
I try many adjustments already , normally I like on street drive to make the caltracs full “ open lose “ so like you not have one Installed.
But the gap between the Aluminium sleeve and the lead spring I think is to short , and if I shift from 2-3 gear under not full load ( wot) it’s bang very loud from the passenger side .
I think the rods specially on the passenger side a little to short , so I can not bring the Aluminium sleeve far enough away from the leave spring , and so if I **** by normal street driving is a big loud bang every time , specially from 2-3 gear .
So, now I try to give the caltracs some pre load , first I try 1/4 turn , 1/2 turn and after also 3/4 turn , for see maybe the loud bang goes away if I shift , but it’s don’t go away .
Any idea , or same experience ?

Did you torque the u bolts? May be to tight.

Is this thing you have a race car or a street car - make up your mind because those two do not go together.
I know Caltracs are marketed as being for "street" cars but they really mean race cars driven on the street.

I have CalTracs on my 66 wagon with their monoleaf springs and no noise? Probably using them for 5-6 years now. Perhaps its the extra spring leaves causing your grief. With the bars you do not need any more spring than it takes to hold up the car.

My spool and rear axles clunk and make noises around corners but driving down the street there are no issues with the Cal-tracs. I street my car a LOT! Drove it to work yesterday, in fact. Aluminum bushings in the front spring eye bushing as well.

Spool makes no noise or ya have a problem

I would bet that the noise you are hearing is the sleeve contacting the top of the leaf spring. For street use, you could wrap that sleeve with something like shock bushings, and readjust. It would act like the rubber bumper on slapper bars.

This is EXACTLY the noise problem. I had the same thing on my Coronet with Cal Trac Bars and Cal Trac Mono leaf spings....banged like crazy. I wrapped the sleeve with with thick rubber bushing material and this stopped the noise.

No idea. Seems fine. Maybe it is the pivots on the Cal-tracs?
