Anyone had minimally invasive back surgery?

Choosing between a neurosurgeon or an orthopedic surgeon is a toss up....

I commend you for getting a second opinion:hello2:
The ortho guys got into the game about 25years ago. Well trained, highly qualified, well reviewed surgeons from either branch of medicine will do.

I do understand your fear of having surgery. No surgery is "Minimal" in any patient's eyes. You guys sounds like your weighing all options and reaching a sound conclusion.

Exploring your options leads to a sound decision for better outcomes!

I will pray for you and your family and it will work out well in the end.

As stated the pain meds are horrible for you and there a joke to get them when you need them thanks to these a holes that take them for fun.
Every time I get a new pain management doctor it's a million ?'s again and again they always assume because of my age I'm b.s. ing them for a quick high . Then after they finely read my file I get my script then have to drive around to 20 different pharmacy s to find out who has my pills because they can't say yes or no over the phone if they have any or how many they have I get a large amount every month and it's a joke actually trying to get them.you figured after 4 years of taking the same pills same amount they would order enough to fill my script every time I go it's the same date every month
Good luck and tell her she's not alone wish there was more we can do but 4 years and I'm still screwed

So here is my horror story: went in for kidney surgery and when I woke up I suffered a right eye abrasion, cervical neck injury and all the tendons on my left shoulder were torn. I had to go in for neck surgery to avoid paralysis or death. This was done at the VA Dallas hospital.

Get 2 or 3 second opinions; talk to their patients and do your due diligence. You cannot unring the bell once a doctor has injured you. Also, remember skill level of surgeons differ. Some are ok and some are great. just beware and don't assume ****.

My wife was rear-ended by a drunk driver about 15 years ago. Ended up with one herniated and 2 bulging discs. Neurologist sent her for physical therapy which helped a little. We have a good friend who is a chiropractor. They just started using a machine that basically stretches the spine out and allows the bulging discs to slip back in place. My wife did the machine for 8 weeks and then another 3 months of pt. It basically allowed her to heal without surgery. She also has scoliosis (slight curviture of the spine) and suffers from sciatic pain from it. I can usually massage it out and with some Tylenol, she's good.

I would consult a chiropractor and see what they recommend before getting cut open, minimally or not. Hope your wife gets some relief.
