Not the Lasik type eye work, I mean the procedure where they suck out the whole lens from your eyes and put in entirely new ones that will last you clear till dead.
I had it done in Feb 2023 and have been very happy with being able to see since. It is not cheap but I hated those glasses enough that the money slipped out of my hand pretty easy, like buying that rare part you find after looking for a long time. The procedure took only 20 minutes and the next day I was driving around in my car.
I did not know this was even possible until my sister told me about it, I was under the impression Lasik was the only fix available, and the Lasic guys told me it would be a waste of money since I am an old fart with worn out hard lenses that wouldn't focus anymore.
But I can see great now- near, far, read little part numbers, find those tiny things that drop on the floor-

Well tell me more, I was thinking about lasik and only doing one eye, my neighbor did this and one eye is near and the right is far, he loves it after a bit of getting used to it, he can read he can drive, seems like the best of both worlds. Never heard about what your describing.
cost vs lasik?, complications? WTF?
I am near sighted but not so bad, if I dont have my glasses Im still ok to drive and stuff but things are much clearer with glasses so I use them.
Tell us impaird a bit more.

Had my lens replaced about 10 years ago at the S.F. VA Hospital. Normally that procedure is an outpatient deal…..mine took 6 hours, 3 doctors and I had to stay the night cause it was full blown surgery. But I still need glasses to see and mine are polycarbonate lenses (bullet resistant).

The fun part of eye surgery, Lasik for me, is trying to hold still as they're coming at you with the blade.

It's already on the horizon for me. Last time at the eye doc's, he discovered I didn't need glasses for my
astigmatism anymore (I hadn't worn any in months anyways); my eyesight had improved!
(One of my eyes has always been good; the right one has always had astigmatism, though).
Dumbfounded, I asked how that was even possible....
"Cataracts on the way" he replied.

Get this....the oncoming cataract in my right eye is actually (currently, anyways) acting as a form of
corrective lens right now - and it's been quite noticeable, as my "3-D vision" has returned without
aid of glasses, making me quite happy.
Well, I was quite happy anyways, until his news...
So I reckon I'm slated for that lens replacement crap in the near future.
No, not thrilled about anyone going after my eyeball with anything sharp...but what's the alternative?

I had multi-focal lenses put in both eyes last Aug, due to fast developing cataracts. They were not cheap, but so worth it! No more glasses, I can see at all ranges. Only side effect is rings around lights at night, but you get used to it and I don't even notice anymore

I think if you have cataracts and are old enough medicare will pay some or maybe all of it, I did not have cataracts so mine were 12 grand.
Yeah it was tough driving at night at first because of those light halos but I don't notice any more either. I think your brain tunes them out over time.

I had been wearing thick eyeglasses for 50+ years and when I had cataract surgery several years ago, they corrected my vision. I thought I'd feel naked without my eyeglasses, but it was more liberating than I ever thought it would be.

I had Cataract surgery on both eyes back in 2022. I had what they call mono-vision and wore a contact lens in one eye and nothing in the other. With Mono vision you use one eye for distance and the other for close up or reading. I told my doctor I wanted to keep the mono vision so I wouldn't need cheaters to read. He fixed me up with a new lens that took the place of my contact lens and very little correction in the other. All said and done, I have 20-10 vision in one eye and 20-80 vision in the other. I have no idea how they do it but it works great for me. No more contact lens and no cheaters to read.

Had Cataracts. They replaced each lens two weeks apart and took about one hour per eye.
I was scared for nothing! It was a cake walk. Now I only need cheap Foster Grants for reading
fine print or using the computer, otherwise I have 20/20 vision. Like the Man said, till I'm Dead!

Sarcoma Lioma. Is what I have surrounding my left eye. Had over a dozen surgeries and radiation treatments which led to a cataract and a new lens. Worked great at first but now I have to tape my eye shut when sleeping to keep what sight left from getting worse. Totally sucks. They even suggested to have the eye removed so if the cancer spreads it won't go to my brain. That was several years ago and I'm still alive and I can still see somewhat so I'm good. And I really don't want anymore surgeries unless they promise to finally fix it. So take care of your eyes. It's nice to both of them working simultaneously equally and clearly.

I've had two cataract surgeries, three torn retinas, two YAG procedures, one detached retina, one failed surgery to repair detached retina, one semi -successful surgery to repair a detached retina...... and about twenty floaters as a result, and two entirely different focal lengths.
I'm 6'3"
If I look at my foot with the somewhat blurry eye, it's five feet away, like it should be.
If I look at my foot with the sharp clear eye.... it's.seven feet away.
So, about 80% of the time, the sharp clear eye that lies to me is closed.
