After recently installing a high stall converter, I soon realized my external cooler just isn't enough for daily driving.

I'm looking into either a larger RV cooler or a 2nd cooler to work with my current one, but while searching, I spotted one of these tube pan coolers on Amazon and I'm curious if they actually make much difference compared to my el cheapo deep pan from 440Source :icon_scratch:

Anyone here have one of these?

I ran a similar pan years ago. Looked the same but it wasn't that deep.I never had issues with trans temp but I didnt have a loose converter either. I always run the biggest cooler I can get. The rv coolers. I think an aluminum finned pan would work better actually.

Get a larger cooler, and forget the Derale pan. Tubes that are in the pan to the best of my knowledge are just tubes and contribute little if any cooling to the transmission oil. Any tube type cooler must have an interal piece called a turbulator. This tumbles the oil as it passes thru the tube. Keep in mind the only oil that is being actually cooled is the oil that touches the inner wall of the tube. I believe they call this type of cooling "skin cooling.
A very good cooler is distributed by B & M. They don't make it, it's made by a Company as I recall Long manufacturing. This is a cooler you can literally run over and you won't damage the cooler. It looks and works like a rad.
Check with NAPA, O' Rielly's or any of the larger parts places and they should have it, or be able to get you one. The size to get (providing you have the room) is the one that is 12"x12"x1 1/2" and make sure to place it in front of the rad so it can get maximum air-flow through it. Also, try to solid mount it, and not use the plastic ties they give you to mount it through the rad, good idea for the rad shop, bad idea for you.
