Anyone interested in a 500" stroker build thread?

I just sent the block to the machine shop, but when it comes back, I was curious if anyone would be interested in me taking some pics of the 500" build and documenting it on here? I have never done a build thread and wasn't sure if there would be much interest. I know there are alot of engine builders on here that do a ton of engines, but I feel there are a ton of guys that are fully capable of building an engine and just won't take the leap. I for one have done a few and am not a pro by any means, but I feel it could help some give it a try. Even just to do a stock 440 or 318 or whatever in their mild car. Let me know and I will try and do it if there is any interest.
 
Sure, can always learn something new. Or maybe a "Hey, I never thought to do that !''

Being that the stock mopar valvetrain has good oiling, I am leaving it alone. I did buy a nice Harland Sharp roller rocker arm kit so it's done right and done once. They say those needle bearings don't want a ton of oil, so with the standard cam bearing hole vs. a grooved bearing, oil will be restricted enough to not flood the needles. I also deburred the valley and lifter areas where the oil drains back to smooth it out and let it flow better. I also had to clearance the block in the corners of the cylinder walls to clear the rods. I will take pics once I get the block back and start the thread.

I agree however I found on my last build that running a brush through all the oil passages is mandatory. The motor I bought had low miles because of repeated valve train failure on one side. Turned out there was a piece of slag stuck in one of the passages greatly restricting oil flow.

Oh yea.... As far as cleaning goes yes I am doing that. I meant as far as modifications to the block itself.

Yea just was unsure about just an engine....I know guys have their whole builds on here which is really cool. It will be a few weeks before I even see it back, but I will do it and document it on here. It'll be the first build thread I have bothered to do. Figured I'd give it a try and see how much **** I can "F" up publicly! Haha!

Not to pick anything apart, no mileage in that obviously.... but if you don't mind me merely commenting/thoughts around other things to potentially "check" as the build progresses maybe ?

BTW, Good for You in trying to help others by opening up your build !

SHOP?!?!? Haha you mean my hillbilly garage building **** for myself? LOL. No problem man always happy to help some others. God knows enough people have helped me on here :thumbsup:

Luckily I have a good machine shop right down the road. Jan-Cen racing engines is near me and very good to me. Mike Janis the Pro Mod racer in the NHRA is the owner so they do some really good work. It is nice to have someone you can trust doing the machine work.

You were a great help with my 413 build!

I like to watch and hopefully learn things from these builds. Comments from experts helps a lot to understand things when you don't have the experience and knowledge these guys have.
