Old school metal flake and horse power, Ah the old days, Love it!

my uncle has a 39ft Sutphen w/ twin 500hp motors...it's quite a ride when it's not broken lol!

Sitting that close to a 7 foot timing chain, no thanks.

I'm somewhat of a boat nut, and while checking out pics of old Sanger V drives, I stumbled on this. 100% pure badass is all I can say.

:iamwithstupid: That is a bada$$ boat... I grew up with boat racers... It's cool as hell, but kind of worthless for anything but, straight 100+mph blasts thou.... cool Injected sohc too

:headbang: my old nextdoor neighbors in Pleasant Hill were world record holders in "Crazy Horse" Blow Fuel Flat Bottoms, Hondo Hull's mostly, Chrysler & KB powered, had also many other friend with Hydro's or Flat's, Al B., Jim D., John P., Larry E., Johnny R. "Hollywood", Pete, Marlene & Fritz K. were the fastest of course, among many others, in our car drag racing circles... many people had boats too, we went to Hog-Back allot as a youth... Boat = Break Out Another Thousand

Dang - I thought you said hot BOOTS!

I'm a boat nut myself. Back in the day my buddy had a 21' pony haul drag boat with a blown 392 Hemi V-drive. Scariest dam boat I've ever drove. Wicked quick. Major blast on Lake Powell.

I was hooked when I went for a ride in a 69 Sanger V drive when I was 12. Of course I had no idea what it was - except that is was a flat bottom low profile thing with a tunnel ram, but one ride while hanging on to the bottom of the seat was all it took. I remember my feet sloshing around in the oily water like it was yesterday.

FF about 30 yrs and I saw the guy that took me out in it. Are you Jerry? I asked. "Yep" he replied. My next question was asking if he still had that boat. He went on describing another boat and I said "I'm talking about the flat bottom." He paused and said "oh, that boat. It was a friends boat and he would let me take it out once in a while" I asked what it was and he said a 69 Sanger. Then the next thing he said was "that boat did 125 MPH".

Not to worry! It's a V drive so the chain is facing the stern.

Did you notice in the writeup that the tow vehicle is also SOHC powered!? That's Cool squared!

It took a while to get them to me, but here'e a couple pictures of my friend's Hemi powered boat......

That is an oldie for sure. Looks like a very early Berkeley pump on there too. I have never seen water logs for a 426 hemi not to mention one in a boat - at least one that wasn't blown or built as a purpose drag boat. Very cool if this boat came that way. The carbs are another curiosity.

I had an opportunity to buy a mid 60's flat with the original installed 427 side oiler. It's was a very original boat but needed work (don't they all?) but would have looked really good paired up with my 66 F250 I had at the time.
