Anyone into hot boats?

Bud, we gotta go to the boat drags!!!!

Ron, here is just one of the cool videos showing a bunch of flats tearing it up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTJHe0Kl7F8

Yes we should, maybe some day... I haven't been to the Boat Drags since Al Bush Died of prostate cancer related complication, kind of ironic he lived thru all them crashes & dies of cancer.... I use to go allot, I was exposed to it early in life.... I loved going to Red Bluff & Firebird... I really like it when they raced in the estuary in Alameda area, when I was a young kid... My sister & nephew both still lives up there in the Red Bluff area, it's been years ago now, when I still lived in the Concord, Pleasant Hill area... I need to go down just to visit Pete & Marlene, they were great people & their son Fritz was a cool youngster too, I learned allot from Pete, I was racing but not at the level he was... Marlene is no slouch either, I think she knows more than most men, that I know about racing in general, set ups & tuning... When I lived next door, we would sit back & drink Kesslers & Coke allot, talk about their early years & how they struggled {but still won allot}, as soon as it was 5:00pm Pete would say, "it's drink time", after working on stuff in Pete's shop, he had some great equipment, he was a machinist from the ship yards originally... Fritz is a chip off the ol' block or was anyway, I haven't seen any of them in a while now, they were into Nostalgia Drags too, the family had a few records in that arena also, with Both BBC & Iron Hemi's, I would travel with them & help out.... aw yea the nostalgia of those days, I fondly remember it well... thanks for bringing up this thread, it has brought back some great memories of my youth...

That was a cool story, thanks for the link... I was introduced to a few of those influential people By Pete, including Ed Pink, Keith Black, they didn't mention Joe Pisano {very much, why I was able to even race, owner of Childs & Albert, Venolia Pistons & Rods, JP1 Bocks & Heads} Joe Mondello, Raymond Beadle, Mert Littlefield or Paul Phaff {even Eddie Hill, Texas & Calif. IHBA stand out}, or a bunch of the rest of Long Beach gang, like Al Bush/Crazy Horse, the winning-ist driver record holders in Blow Fuel Flat Bottoms {the fuel altered of Boat drags} or Hondo Hulls...

Just got back from a party and it was my first time at this guys place. I must say I was pleasantly surprised.

Cool stuff there Meeps, the guys a Ford fan obviously, cool twin turbo set-up... The boats look like late 60' to late 70's vintage too... I like the Fairlane in the back ground too....

While his blood runs Ford blue he does recognize the awesome-ness of MoPar. I had to drive the hemi Charger to his place, which got me major bonus points.

Those boats are indeed gathering a lot of dust - too much dust if you ask me. Apparently none of the car guys in his circle has taken any interest in going out but that's going to change really soon.

The red car in the pic is a 61 Starliner. Next to that is a 60 and next to that is a 67 Fairlane with a 427 medium riser (not original).

yeah now I look at it better, I see it's different roof line & too big to be a Fairlane... oh well, I do love them 66-67 Fairlane's body style, both my step father Bob {Sky Blue HT with dark blue interior/vinyl roof} & my bro. in law Steve, had GTA's, Steve's was a Convertible {white with black top & interior}... need to get them boats out on the water, blow some dust off...

That is how "Fast Eddie Hill" started.....

yep His White Pickle Fork Fuel Hydro Texan 220-230 something MPH, hanging on the wall @ Garlits museum & another hydro coming apart
