Hello,
I have a 65 coronet that had the axle adjuster back all the way out and mangle the threads enough that it will not thread back in. I believe the 65-70's adjusters are the same, but not positive. Anyone know what the thread pitch is on that adjuster and plate? I want to try a thread file before conceding to getting the bearing pressed off and buying a new adjuster, plate and bearing, as I think the bearing gets destroyed when removed....not positive though. The previous installer did not get the tang that prevents the adjuster from spinning out and I did not catch it before driving the car.....my bad...:-(
Any assistance will be much appreciated. Access to the threads is tight, but may work.....I hope

Little fuzzy on which part you are referring to, could you post a pic?

Better to get a replacement than try to fix the threads on it....especially if they are mangled like you said.

Thank you for the replies. I ordered the green bearing kit from DoctorDiff. I saw the writing on the wall when I tried a thread file, then realized the inner threads were as munged as the exposed ones. That set of adjuster plates is toast.
