It's been 30 years now since the 1981 Rolling Stones tour in the U.S. They played three dates in my town Dec 7,8,and 9 back in '81. It's been so long I don't remember which one exactly, but I did go to one of the shows with my older brother and his classmate from out school, Ray.
I remember when Mick took the stage to the opening riffs of "Under my thumb". I also remember that a lot of the songs sounded "sped up" compared to the recorded versions.
The arena where they played was called the Capital Centre and was about seven years old at the time. Many years later it was renamed the USAir arena, eventually it just got so outdated it eventually was demolished.
I also got a few t-shirts and never wore them to keep them in mint condition. I don't remember what happened to them.
Anyways, just wondering if anyone else remembers that tour. It's been 30 years ago now, imagine that.

I was at a Stones concert in 87? It was outdoor and great. The best show I've ever been to. I couldn't believe all the drugs being passed around and the only thing the cops were worried about was knives. There were 55 gallon drums full of them at the entrance gates.

I didn't go but I do remember the tour. I had a full case of posters from the 81 tour brought to us by Jovon. The first thing that I ever sold on Ebay.
I have two left I think.

:headbang::headbang:Never saw the Stones, my old college buddy was on the road crew with them for 81-82 "Tattoo You" tour. We are getting together the 29th back at Ray's in Kent. Lost a few brain cell there in the 70's. About a dozen of us mostly from the All Campus Programming board and the Fresh Air radio and me. I was the neighbor everyone hung out at.
Lots of progressive music and art. Don't even own a Stones album/CD. Good times were had by all. LOL

Only time I saw the Stones was at RFK stadium, Washington,DC late 70's (maybe 78 or 79 ? )... Foreigner was an opening act. Foreigner was terrible, bad sound... Stones were great.
