The bias ply ones as seen in this link:

They are supposed to be meant for heavier cars.

How do they drive on the street? How do they drive on track?

I'll be running bias ply Hoosier Quicktime Pro D.O.T. slicks in the back.

I tried running some Chinese 165/80R-15 radials and it didn't work out. They handled great but I got a bulge in the sidewall right away. They are rated for 1200 lbs. each but I guess my 3600 pound car with a family of five cruising in it was too much for them.

I ran a set on mine for awhile with no failure issues. On the strip they were fine but any type of skinney bias belt tire for street use is not real fun. They want to follow every little groove and dent in the road. Makes you wonder how we survived 40-50 years ago :)
Of course the Hoosier Quick Times Pros are not street tires.
If you haven't bought yours yet I have a full set of mounted Hoosiers and M/T Sportsmans for sale in like new condition. Check out this link in the classifieds:

I run the M/T Sportsman fronts on my Road Runner. Work pretty well on the street, but like others have said, they tend to follow the road only having a few inches of tread on the pavement. Haven't taken the car to the track with them so all my experience is on the street. Much, much better than the old Volkswagen radials that I used to run on my LX Coupe (Mustang) on the front. Good overall wear, and would purchase again.

I had a set that split and cracked down in the tread.:angry1: they were pretty worn out, maybe 5000 miles on them, and 6 years old, but they should'nt do that.

The tall bia-ply ones are the only tire I have had on my car in over 20 years.IMO it's the best looking tire on an early "B" body:toothy4:

i didn't really care for the way my car drove with the sportsmans. i had the 26" 8 ply. i ended up putting a set of hoosier front runners on it. drives better, track and street.

Hopefully whom ever's tire you choose, they are X or Z rated at a minimum for high mph on the street/strip tires or are race only tires for over 150mph+ w/narrow front runners...
