Archie Bunker gets a shave

LMAO. "All in the Family" is timeless. It's still funny today.

Fantastic!! I wonder if that doc is also a groinacologist.

I remember that episode! Heck, that was one show I never missed and still watch the reruns.

:iamwithstupid: that show wouldn't even fly today, it would be protested by some lame group, look at what's happening today with the Duck Commander/Duck Dynasty guys, we live in an over sensitive PC world today, people can't say or do anything today, without some activist or group starting some kind of crap... it's a shame, we've come so far, but now were going backwards too, when it comes to freedom of speech or civil liberties... sorry not trying to turn this political... :angryfire:

I think you miss the point of Archie and the show .. The show was made to change society, thinking, and behaviour and Carroll O'Connor was a huge liberal who played Archie the way he did to show how wrong that way of thinking and acting was

The show very well may have been made to make those points. And it likely had a huge effect on attitudes and behavior at the time. But today............I don't think so. I agree with Budnicks, it would be jumped all over by groups claiming such stuff as racial or male chauvinist or the list continues. Society today doesn't have the ability to see it for what it was, or maybe it's just that they are looking for an excuse or a reason to complain and argue about something.

I should add that I mean if it was ran today like it was then. When I was young and this was being aired, we had three channels. There was a really good chance most of society was watching the same thing at the same time. Nowadays with all the channels available, you have to search for it to find the re-runs. Very few are actually seeing it or know it exists. The only ones watching it, for the most part, are those of us who watched it back then. IMO.

I agree qdrill

Matter of fact that time was cool and because of only having 3 channels there are a lot of shared experience's and a some common core references our generation and older generations have. Less so now due to more choice in all forms of media. Don't get me wrong having more choice is great but the cable and internet generations don't have that degree of a common core of references, influences and memories and share family experiences with everyone watching the same shows at the same time and enjoying them together w/o the iphones distracting from the experience.

Just an observation not a judgement.
