I know they will bolt up with no problem.
But are they exactly the same?
Are the steering columns at the same angle? as i had to shim the gearbox on my 69 charger to get the angle to match the column.
Or maybe bent ? Or bad fixturing at the factory?
Just wondering.

I was under the assumption that the main difference B to E was the gear box mounting being at a different angle.

The difference is the steering box mount angle. Also I believe the center link is different because of that angle. 71-2 B's and the 70-4? E's take the same K. 70 B K unit is a unique critter.

Same centerlink 70-B as 70-74-E and 71-72-B

Post number 4 is correct. 70 down B body center links, are different than 71 up B and all E bodies.

I did NOT base my opinion on an ebay add, but it does show the part number of the later link, and the obvious kink on the pitman arm end of the center link, which is the difference between the two. I'm not saying you would notice a difference by swapping a later link with an early one and vice versa, but they are different.

From what I have seen, the 71-72 B body center links had that bend at the left side where it attaches to the left tie rod and pitman arm.

So this has me thinking,? are the lengths of the centerlink different? Saw that the after market drop link is 1/2" longer in and now it doesn't fit all applications as anticipated? Hmmmmmmmm.
Again, just wondering.

I agree with @Kern Dog above. Here is a 70 center link from my Road Runner. Compared to the E-Body and 71-72 B-Body pictured above. I don't have a 71 here to measure as my car is sold.

That dropped center link is just plain wrong. I believe early and late center links are the same length.

Looking at that photo makes me think the extra K I have, that the engine is currently sitting on the dolly with, is an E/71-2 B unit. The center link I got with the K looks like that. The K I worked over for the 65 has the center link like the one in T2R9's photo. From what I heard years ago, which could be false, if you have the corresponding center link all is fine. True or false?
