So I bought a set of 4 for my 68 Charger off ebay, but they sent me the wrong rear shocks:

KG5466 were sent, which is for midsize 4x4 vs

KG5512

dimensionally they are close, but not the same, but is the valving also going to be different or are they all just the same inside? The ebay retailer says 'they are all the same', but that's just a random seller on ebay of course.

KG5466
Extended Length 22.95
Compressed Length 14.09
Stroke Length 8.86

KG5512
Extended Length 22.64
Compressed Length 13.98
Stroke Length 8.66

but I don't see any info about valving or vehicle weight assumptions

moot point as ebay arbitration sided with me and gave me my refund. I did additionally find through a link another guy posted that the mount points are different too.

I bought KYB shocks for my '70 Charger from RockAuto. It shows the same part number for the rears for all years of Charger, KG5512. However, the front shocks are KG4510. Looks like you got a wrong part.

You really should have done a search online about the KYBs. They are a crappy choice. There are numerous better shocks to choose from.
They are cheap because they are terrible.
Would you trust a dentist that quotes $15 to remove a tooth when the rest of the dentists quote $200?

My bad...twice. I bought the KYB's from RockAuto about 8 months ago, long before I even joined this forum. Chose them because they were on sale. I have since researched this and already have a pair of Sachs front shocks coming, those are supposed to be very good, yet affordable. $500-plus for some Bilsteins just ain't in the budget. Sorry for the thread necro.

I'm good with the $15 dentist, then I have more money for shocks.

I'll do it for $10

So if KYB's are so bad, what is the choice replacement shock for a 69 Charger RT? KYB's have been on my 69 Charger for 30 years+. Want to put some fresh new on. Thanks!

I'll be that guy and say I love the KYB's.. They are miles ahead of Monroe, Gabriel ect.. are they top.. No, but they are not 100-150 each ether, quality for price they are very comparable.

For bang-for-buck, Sachs 030-816 are rated pretty highly, German-made, but unfortunately they only have front shocks.
