Im putting together a 1974 727 from a 1974/440 truck for my 71 charger. But, of course, several parts are iffy, and I have two more parts trans available. But I am wondering about balance issues ( if any) between different years. For instance in my 1974 tranny, the rear drum is toast, and I have a real nice rear drum from a 1969 tranny, but the original has 5 holes drilled through it and the 69 piece has none just a few partial holes that don't go through. Is this an issue? I mean I know a 74 440 would most likely be an external balance cast crank engine, but............. I'm so confused.

Nothing is balanced as an assembly. Each individual part is balanced to some degree of accuracy. So swapping parts year to year is not an issue as long as they are correct for the application. Only balance of concern is converter to engine.
