These are John Azzurra "Extra clearance" black wrinkle valve covers. '66-'69.
These are the last set he had, and according to him, the last set he will ever have in black wrinkle. He isn't able to get these manufactured anymore, and only has chrome left in stock. I had to sweet talk him out of his last set of black wrinkle.
From when I remember, his design is essentially molded over the top of the original valve covers. This give an extra fraction of an inch clearance. HUGE help if you use big springs or 10 degree locks and want to keep that factory stock look. Also helps if you use Indy Roller Rockers or anything non-stock in the vale train that may "tap" the valve covers. Even with these some people find molding is required, depending on your radicalization, but this give you a great head start. Most people find that these give you all the clearance you need.
Comes with the required Fel-Pro #1629 gaskets, Azzurra plug tube o-rings, and Indy extra length spark plug tubes. Everything you need to get this project done! Example of what they look like installed: http://www.hotrod.com/articles/sky-high-hemi-powered-plymouth-gasser-rules-street/
This may very well be the last time you will ever see this entire set ever being sold together. Trying to find the valve covers alone was impossible for me. It took me 6 months of searching and then multiple calls to John before he gave up his last set, and in the end I didn't use them, so I'm offering them up here before they go up on eBay.
Azzurra Valve Covers, Indy 426-S1-17 Plug Tubes, Azzurra plug tube O-Rings, and Fel-Pro Gaskets for $600 + shipping. Firm. If I can't get my money back out of them, I'll hang on to them for a future project. Going on eBay soon, but would prefer to sell to someone here.
EDIT: Must have not had my glasses on when I put this up last night. Just corrected the price.
Note: John mentioned when I bought these from him that taller studs are required due to the gasket thickness and dimensions of the valve covers. He didn't say how much taller, but would be a good idea to test fit prior to install to get a good idea. Most likely .10" taller would do the trick. These VCs are designed to be used with the Fel-Pro gaskets included with the sale. Gaskets are 3/32" in height, if I remember correctly. The tubes are ½" taller than stock (I think they are INDY tubes). Some folks have had issues getting the tubes to fit, and may require either double gasket, or modifying the tubes. Others get the tubes to work without issue. Most folks here are very resourceful, so I'm sure y'all won't have an issue.
