Your welcome Jack glad that I could be of some help. The paint work looks really nice. I'm staying tuned until you get it back together, it's going to look like a new ashtray when you're done. Thank you for offering to pay it forward.
I’m assuming the rivets are 1/8 in diameter?
I will take 2 were did u purchase the driver and size i hade a hell of a time
Hey Jack, I will buy a few of your extra rivets. Am I looking at this right, the squeezer you used was $200?OK; so my ashtray restoration is complete. The 9/64" rivets provided by Geetex are perfect. Here are the pictures assembling and the finished product.
I drilled out the original rivets, bead blasted the ashtray door inside & out, and the inside of the ashtray. Painted the ashtray door & knob Bayou Green Metallic Suede.
I purchased the correct driver and anvil to install the rivets. It was really easy to cinch the rivets with the driver. It looks amazing!!
Let me know who needs rivets, PM your address and I will get them in the mail to you. I am also willing to share my driver.
Jack

Thanks, that's better than $200. You then squeeze them in a vise? The tools cost ~ $40. Here are the links:

Shifted to Technical/Interior for now.Jack that came out great, that was a nice clean ashtray that you started with. Beautiful job.
I was just thinking, maybe one of the mods can move this thread to a different forum so that more people will see it, it may be of help to others also. @kiwigtx
Thanks Jack for posting this thread. Just took mine apart so now I am at the point of no return, lol.

Looks pretty straigtforward. Curious if you were you able to get Amazon to combine shipping on the 2 tools somehow since they are coming from the same place? Its scary at first, but its the only way to do it right!!
With the correct rivets and cinching tools, it will come out PERFECT!!
Glad you took the leap; let me know if you need anything??
