Well I drove 3 hours to LA yesterday to pick up my car (shipped from South Carolina). Did a quick walk around. Got in it, verified that everything was there, started it up, and got it on the trailer.
It took a few tries to get on my trailer, it kept stalling half way up, then I had to jump it every time because the battery was drained.
But I finally got it on. Everything looked good, though blinded by excitement, I failed to see that my newly re-plated, straightened bumper, was badly damaged.

In fact, I signed for the car, towed it 3 hours the other way, and motored around the block a couple times before I noticed the damage.

And now, I suppose, there's nothing I can do about it. I paid $500 dollars for this bumper a few years ago, and it's the only show quality piece anywhere near my car. And now it looks like I'll probably have to pay out of my own pocket to make things right.

I'm really kicking myself here for not noticing. I'll post pictures later. I assure you, it wasn't me that caused the damage. And i honestly think that the Shippers might have been able to help, if i had noticed it at the pick up. But now I think it's just too late, i'll be calling them tomorrow to see if there's anything that can be done. But i doubt it.

If anyone's dealt with this kind of situation before, or has any advice, let me know.

That's a sad tale, I hope they will take credit for the damage... It's great to see your car is here, a bumper is an easy fix at least, expensive but things could have been much worse... Do you have any insurance on the car ?, I would think that, the Comprehensive portion on the cars regular insurance policy, should cover that damage from shipping it out here... Good luck

Right side of the bumper, and the only damage. I'm sure it can be straightened, and re-plated. But I'll probably have to wait another few years for that to happen.

On the bright side, my son's getting his 3rd tooth in!

Yeah you signed for it, you really don't have a leg to stand on, I have been in the same situation excited and did not thouroughly check item and signed and there is really nothing you can do, but do check with your insurance provider they might help.

Yup. It's funny because when i bought this car, i missed stuff too. And now i feel like i've bought it twice, both times with issues i didn't see till it was too late.:angryfire:

Really it's "nobody's fault but mine..." to quote Zeppelin

But at least it's out here, and man it was good to drive it a little last night!

Even noting it doesn't mean you will get reimbursed. Just went through this with my car, but even though I noted the damage on the paperwork the shipper insurance had a $1,000 deductible and they are refusing to pay.
