I used to transport my 16' flat bed car hauler with my 95 Dakota V6 with 3.55 gears.....just turned off the OD on it. Gas mileage was never really good with those trucks tho.Just had a thought. Best friend has a F150 Ford she's not using, probably weighs 2000 lbs less than my diesel. Could easily drag the trailer back with it. Maybe I need to make a call......
That truck on a 14 footer? It would fill my 16 footer and IF the rear wheels weren't about to hang off the tail, you'll have a lot of the truck hanging past the tail. Plus you would probably have too much weight on the tail and you probably know how that acts. The rental car sounds like a good idea if you can't get a friend to follow you....2002 Chevy Silverado diesel quad cab, will probably barely fit on my 14 ft trailer.
