I bought an Autometer 4315 fuel gauge for my 70 Belvedere because my dash gauge is dead. I am using a new aftermarket sender in the fuel tank. It takes six or 7 gallons in the tank before the needle moves above E and at full tank the needle never gets above a quarter tank. Per the autometer website, apparently they're gauges do not work well with aftermarket senders and this is a common problem. One option is to send the gauge to them for a fee and they will modify the gauge to work. Has anyone done this before?

I don't use a float style sender but they can be made to work with a bit of bending on the float arm (maybe) I switched to this style made and supplied by many retailers:

There are interface units that will match any sender to any gauge, you'll have to look online,
