A good friend of mine bought a '70 Bee, new from the factory, green, 440, 4 spd. He didn't have the car for one month and he took it to a guy that did custom paint jobs. He did accent panels in a different color of green with lace. Bordered those in a heavy metal flake candy green with tasteful pinstriping. Then bought aluminum slots all the way around. Maybe the description sounds weird but it was the coolest looking car I've seen. I couldn't believe he did all of that to a car that wasn't even out of warranty yet. I've always liked the looks of the Bees.

I've always wondered with this big money cars...How does it work? Say the cars is worth $200,000 in the owners eyes and it is bid to $190,000 and the car goes through unsold. Does the consignor still have to pay a percentage to Mecum?

Do these auction houses verify the authenticity of these cars,,,,or check them mechanically? I know of a particular matching #s black 68 or 69 HEMI Roadrunner that has a cracked block and was stitch welded to stop the leaks.Stick car too!
