B block M1 single plane worth?

Not sure the last time anyone looked for the 'B' series M1 intake manifold, but it's one of the toughest manifolds to come across. Two or three years ago, it was hard to give these away. Now it seems, everyone wants one to complete a 400 low-deck build. $250 seems like a good price to place these at currently, if no new production is available.

I mean, look at the M1 tunnel ram for a 'B' engine, when is the last time you've seen one of those for sale? I wouldn't sell one for under $500 at this point for a complete assembly. Three to five years ago, it was a $300 manifold.

To the OP; is that manifold a #P4532173?? I need another one, but here's my big question (and this may answer yours)... If you Google the part #, you find that places like Summit, Jegs, etc. still list that manifold like they sell it new everyday for $300, which I assume they do not. So, then there are lesser results from companies that I've never dealt with, that show it as available for more like $220. Companies like Moparpartsgiant, Tascaparts, Tuscon auto parts. Anybody out there that can vouch for these companies, or tell me whats going on here, like Mopar Perf parts that are still on the shelves maybe?? TIA, Lefty71

I wonder if that is the same manifold? From what I've read over the years, the 'B' M1 single plane was discontinued. Only the RB model remains.

The dominator-flanged M1 version is part # P4529724

That would be great if they are available again? Maybe call and see if there are truly any 'in stock'.

*UPDATE* just read a posting that the part # (P4529462) was on the box of these manifolds, but (P4532173) was stamped on the manifold itself. I would definitely call to verify if these are in stock.

Sooooo..... I tried out the Tasca Parts website since they advertised the P4532173 at the cheapest price I could find. Here's what happened; took payment, showed sale pending, and within 24 hours money was refunded with this answer;
At this moment, your recent order of part #[P4532173] is currently on national backorder with the automotive manufacturer, with no scheduled date of resupply. I have no idea what their game is beyond clickbait, but the reality is unless there are small dealerships out their sitting on their Mopar Perf parts of old, I don't see how you could ever get one new, nor how you could stumble across them. So the OP's manifold is truly public demand, meaning is worth whatever he can get out of it lol. If hes a shark, go high, if he believes hes helping out a fellow Mopar enthusiast, go low. Let your conscious be your guide. HTH, Lefty71

Looks like Im leaning toward a TrickFlow 616000111, which is the closest match I can see to am M1 as available spankin new.

Agreed, but I think the Trickflow may need more motor than I have together on this build..... 383 displacement, not a huge cam (smaller hughes mech). I know im gonna want a single plane for the track, but im not too sure that just headers are gonna be enough to scavenge and get good flow to get her off the bottom with stock displacement. An M1 would be a closer match I think. I do have one, but the flanges have been cut on to fit up on a motor with a geometry problem, so I don't know if cutting it more to square it back up and going with some different gasket stack is gonna fix it up, or create an air leak I'll have trouble finding.:praying:

I think that may be a bit better.

There is no think about it, the TF intake is the best 4150 low-deck intake OOTB for a max-effort build. Check out some of AndyF articles on the 470 dyno-mule. It even edged out the M1 4500 manifold until it was ported by Wilson.

Now, on a low-performance or typical factory iron head build, I doubt there is a 10-horsepower peak difference between the top five intake manifolds. Check out some of the old Hot Rod intake manifold shootouts, the first one was very surprising. Hard to beat the Holley Street Dominator realistically in that situation for something in the 383-400ci range, when hood clearance is a concern. It's been fairly recent in history where we've had the issue of intake manifolds being the bottleneck on 383/400 builds, and not the cylinder heads.

FWIW, when I said the words “I think” there was no wondering or guessing behind the statement.
Just sayin.....

Also, what intake works best is more of an issue of what it is used for. That article is good but narrow. It does however help clue everyone in on a few things.

Hey Rumble, of course, I didn't take it any other way (difficult to tell on the internet), more or less trying to say there is no guesswork about it being the best anymore for max-effort builds. It's a fantastic intake, best intake by far OOTB for our 'B' engines. Like you said, it really depends on the combination!

Hope you guys grabbed one. There apparently gone???, and that's now a dead link....:drama:

Well............. Looks like I owe Rumblefish360 a debt of gratitude, because there was a shiny new (11 year old NOS) 383-400 M1 single plane aluminum manifold from Chicago Connection waiting on my porch for me when I got home from work today. Thanks for the link, bud. Just like Sweet5ltr said; Part # P4529462 is indeed casting number # P4532173. Thanks for your insight guys, this is going to work perfect on my 383 coming up. It was $262.20, forty bucks less than Summit, not that it matters, because they couldn't produce one, and now have tagged them 'unavailable'. Lefty71:usflag::moparsmiley:
