Yup. That is where they go. I don't remember seeing them on other cars I have restored but they were on my 68 Charger as well. Here is a pic of mine. I plan on putting them back on when I press in new bushings.
I don't know what the purpose was for the spacers. Must be for added stiffness somewhere. It is funny that the C body cars didn't have them. It seems like if some of the B Bodies need them, the C's would need them more. Don't matter to me though, They were on my 68 Charger so they are going back on for whatever good they do.
I am with Cranky on this on 40+ and have never seen these before this thread. But I have not pulled a control arm bushing in or out since I bought a press.
I have not seen them before either until I started dis assembly on my 68 Charger. It is a 383 auto car so not what I would call "heavy duty". Anyway, I just pressed them back on with new bushings yesterday. Here are a couple pics. They go on the rear bushing on both sides.
First time I saw them was in the latter 70's, when doing a suspension job in the shop. I had no idea what they were or why they were there. I imagine to add strength.
