I've been looking for pictures of any 71-74 RoadRunner that is painted in B5 blue with red stripes. I've seen a few pictures on line of a much lighter blue, more so like King Richard used that is described as B5 with red stripes but it's incorrect. I'm guessing there are a few cars that left the factory in these colors but I just haven't been able to find them. If you remember a car from many years ago that was spec'ed like that, please comment also. Is there any factory break downs of colors schemes available anywhere, ideally for the 1973 model year or the entire 71-74 production run?

Mind you, I am only speaking from memory here but have no pictures, data or proof...

I recall seeing my first blue with red stripe Road Runner circa 1984. I had my 73 Road Runner (then Tahitian Gold Maetallic, AKA brown) with a white stripe. Anyway, the blue with red stripe was very striking and it left an impression on me. My buddy and I were working at a summer job in Allentown, PA. I would state the car was a medium (B5) blue, but time may have altered that memory.

Anyway, I would think fairly few of them got this combo.

Reckon this is the lighter blue?

When I was in Boot Camp there was a 68 G?TX that was always parked along a road we marched past it every day... QQ-1 with a red stripe
Similar to this but a red stripe

Doesn’t seem to be posible at least for 73…

But… well..
That chart shows recommended combinations, not the only available combinations...
If your chosen combination was to weird they required a waiver which was noted on the broadcast sheet.... Had a buddy with a 70 Charger that required a waiver, FY1 exterior, Green top, Tan interior.. Bought it from the original owner, guy said the dealer (Hughes Dodge) wanted it paid for in full up front....

Is FY1 yellow? That’s funny. Wonder if that car still exists. Bet it would win car shows. :rofl:Yellow with a green vinyl top and tan interior, from the factory.

Yup.... My buddy put a black top on it.... Made it look a whole lot better.... 383 4spd, Pwr Windows, A/C, 15" rallys... Cool car, but the green top was ugly...

oh man. I would have left it alone. Great conversation piece.
This was probably thirty years ago, odd stuff wasn't as appreciated as it is these days... Making the car look better was more important that having a conversation about oddities...

Interesting to see this, and thanks for clarifying 1 Wild R/T! I'm going to say guess a B5 w/red strips and a sunroof would be one of very few. I'm getting ready to make this car known publicly in the very near future but here is a pic of the fender tag. It's a very original car

Well, thirty years ago, the fever for these cars was barely beginning… and after 2001 the fever went up faster thanks to F&F.

But I can understand on those days the rarity of a model was not a deal to deal with.

RSMS...that Road Runner is really cool, looking at the fender tag. Is it complete and all there?
Original drivetrain still with the car?
Hope you post pics of the car soon!

A little teaser....yes, it's about 99% completely original as it rolled off the showroom floor, it's never been repainted although when it was parked in 1989 the 2nd owner tried to address a few weak spots on the paint and started to work on those spots to get it ready to repaint. Luckily, he didn't, although it has several primer spots on it. It was special ordered by a woman in Tampa FL who traded her 69 GTX in on it. The car has never been more than around 100 miles from where it was bought new supposedly. It only has 59k miles on it and is one of the cleanest non rusty b-bodies I think I've seen in a long time. If you decode the fender tag you will see how highly optioned it is. Not only is it a RR, it's a GTX and not only is it a GTX, it's a sunroof GTX.

LOL!!! I'm just getting to going thru the car and I haven't even tried to start it yet. Once I do, I will share it with the community. That's why I shared the fender tag from the day I bought it, in an actual barn. Another cool tidbit, the guy I got it from was insightful enough to cover the ground where it was parked with rolled asphalt roofing material to keep it from being in the dirt.

Some of us are fender tag illiterate. A little help….
