Hi, y'all -

it's been a while... have had irl stuff to tend to, work, family, you know it. Also had a Satellite project that seemed endless and most frustrating. When I heard I would have to wait for up to six more months to put her back in the paintbox, I just got fed up with the whole thing... entire car was in atoms, car parts filled every void at home and the missus started having serious opinions about windshields on the balcony, door sides or chrome mouldings that fell on her head when she tried to reach for something from a shelf, the piles of tires and wheels cramped in the garage...

So, I got sick of it and traded the car for a complete, rolling, not-too-much work kinda car.

And here's where things went a bit wrong - a guy approached me and asked if I would be interested in a trade. His '65 convertible for my '68 project. Sure, whatever, I figured, as long as the car is sound. Also, a convertible is kinda cool. The fact that the car was a non-Mopar didn't bother me a bit. Well, it actually did, but I kinda ignored that.

Now, I did not trade my Plymouth for a Chevy, or any other GM product for that matter (the only GM's I'd be interested in are the '58 Impala and Bonneville, btw). Instead, I found myself owning a Ford. A '65 Galaxie 500 convertible at that. Sure, cool, I thought, my dad was a Ford man, he drove a Mercury back in the 60's, I can do that...

Nope. couldn't do that.

It felt... wrong, it felt... bad. I simply couldn't keep that car. As with every 50 year-old automobile, it needed tending to, no matter how "rust-free" or "driveable". I would have to shell out money to keep it rolling soon, and I just couldn't justify spending money on a Ford.

So... checking the classifieds, hoping to find something to trade the Ford for, I ran across a B5 blue, white interior '68 Sport Satty. Car turned out to be a pile of scrap, more or less, so my quest continued... and suddenly, there it was. A '66 Satellite 2 dr HT, in good driver condition. I contacted the owner and we soon had a deal.

At last, I had a Mopar in the garage again... will never, ever stray from that path again. Simply not worth it.

Nice looking ride. Glad to see that you're a Mopar owner again.

Damn right it's not worth it.

We know where you live, blondie.

Good to have ya' back...

Glad you came to your senses, though if I ever thought of cheating, a galaxie would be the girl for me.

the fords were not that bad, just didnt have the Style and power that the mopars did.
now if your vertible had come with a 428! that mighta changed things a bit,but im guessing you had the 390 auto/352 or smaller.
Welcome Back!!

Thanks! It actually had a 429, transplanted from a later T-bird... ran like ***, felt totally alien and unreliable. I learned that cui isn't everything... found myself longing for my sweet li'l LA smallblocks...

Welcome back Cletus. Nice looking Satty, so we will forgive you this time. I might be tempted to go Ford if I could find a bone stock, mint condition, unrestored, documented Thunderbolt for a few hundred bucks. I'm looking.....:icon_eek:

Welcome back brother !

.....and for the record, Richard has yet to give up fat chicks.
