im converting to 4-spd in my 65, friend has 64 poly 318 4-spd car, he said i could have trans driveshaft and flywheel for @ $150, does anyone make a rebuild kit for the ball/trunion? also is the flywheel the same? i have a 383. or should i spend a little more for slip yoke? either way going to have to have driveshaft. thanks for any input.

Take this chance to upgrade to a slip yoke trans.. You can buy a trunion kit but that and balancing a difficult shaft can run $300. Plus that 318 shaft will be the small diameter.

yea, your probably right. what is the best all around 833 to buy? just going to have a mild 383.

how can you tell if it has the larger shaft, are you talking about input or output? i would like to know what to look for before i start looking.

I did not know that any early B body with a 318 or 273 was ever available with a 4 speed. Anyhow, when I did my conversion on my '65. I used a '70 trans. Quite a bit of fab work to the crossmember. Easy, just time consuming.

Best and common choice is a 68 69 trans. Tail extension fits as a 65, good synchro upgrade from a 64-67, I prefer the ball dedent shift cover, and a better gear ratio to the 71 up choices.

I looked on Mosher's site the car he built for Greg Smith, a 64 dodge 330, how did he rig that driveshaft up? I would like to replicate that if i go with the ball/trunion trans. anyone know what he done there? thanks.
