A buddy of mine - a Ford guy - sent me these pics of a car in his neighborhood that he has been telling me about for 6 months. It looks like a 68-69 Roadrunner.....

I guess there are still cars out there to be found.

In case you are all wondering, I have NO interest in that pristine LTD....

Im going to look at the RR on Saturday. Can anyone remind me of which letter in the VIN will determine which motor it was born with?

I'm going to say that's a 69 HT. A real RR will start with RM21 or 23 (post vs HT) and have an H for 383 or J for hemi. No 440 option in a RR unless it's an A12 car. Following the engine code will be the year and the assy plant.

Look at the steering wheel logo - Plymouth or satty badge, 1969 RM 23 sport satellite 4 speed buckets no console. 9 for 69 in fender tag - example - H9E H = 383 330HP OR 335HP 1-4BBL 8 CYL 9 = 1969 E = Los Angeles, CA, USA

Plus that stripe down the side looks suspiciously like something we would see on a sport satty, just sayin

That one better have RM21, because its a coupe. Pop out rear window. I wouldn't worry too much about a stripe, depending when the car was on the road, adding stripes, scoops, and spoilers was very popular. Either way, its a B-body Plymouth 2 door with a stick. :)

I see the chrome bolt head in the corner of the pop out window now. But whatever it is I wouldn't be coughing up $11K for it when running 383 RR's are in the mid $20K range.

Good eye, I missed that too must be a RM21 then, still think it's a sport satty

pretty sure you can get that stripe on road runners too, but the Plymouth badge on the steering whels says it might not be a runner, but it coulda been changed.
good luck

concur beasty especially on the bolded part. I'm guessing 68 due to what appears to be black door handle push button however shifter looks like hurst but that may have been changed or been a late model as I think they moved away from them late in production. If it is a 68 RR and the buckets are factory that's fairly 'rare'. It appears to have had some parts swapped around or be an oddity because it's buckets seat interior, has wood grain steering wheel but doesn't have chrome drip edge or chrome finish one the post, and that stripe looks a little thicker than I think the factory ones were.

the dash pad on a 68 comes to a peak in the middle and has sort of a groove in it .. 69 and 70 are the same. Can't tell from the pics though

No bucket seats available in a Road Runner in '68 and I noticed the black door handle button too. I don't think you could get a SS as an RM21 though.

It's a quandary Matt. Guess we'll have wait and see what's revealed when the tarp comes off or BCBOUNDS buddy goes over and takes a peek at that VIN

So it's become a contest to guess the year......LOL There winner receives an authentic smokey the bear table cloth set.

My guess would be '68, being the dash to the far right of the column/switch plate is open metal (Under the radio). 69' would have been covered by dash pad.

Big block (assuming it is) bucket seat 4 speed hardtop car, worth getting no matter what it turns out to be!

OK it's Saturday.....didya get it?:happy1::happy1::happy1:

Pictures taken from the Space Shuttle might actually have been better.

wow! some of you guys here can spot a Mopar on the moon using binoculars lol!
